Editor, The Herald:

As a native and current resident of Prince Edward County, I fully support Brian Butler for commonwealth’s attorney of Prince Edward County for a multitude of reasons.

First, Brian currently resides in Prince Edward County and has for many years.  He graduated from Hampden-Sydney College in 1991 and has lived here ever since. Second, Brian has made a substantial and personal commitment to our area. He served on the Hampden-Sydney Volunteer Fire Department while attending college and has served as captain of the Prince Edward Volunteer Rescue Squad for almost 20 years.

Third, Brian has a great deal of experience in the commonwealth’s attorney office here in Prince Edward County. He has worked in that office for more than a decade and was designated as a Career Prosecutor in 2007. And finally, the people who work with Brian Butler every day — those who know his capabilities and work ethic best — support him for this office. Nearly every attorney who lives and/or practices regularly in Prince Edward County has endorsed his candidacy.

There may be more than one candidate for commonwealth’s attorney in Prince Edward County, but only one of them lives here, volunteers here, is employed here and has been endorsed by the professionals who will have to interact with him each day. Regardless of your party affiliation, please vote for Brian Butler in the Democratic Primary next Tuesday, June 9.
