Have you heard of the Farmville Blueway? The Friends of the Appomattox River (FAR) and the Town of Farmville have cooperatively worked to establish a blueway in Farmville.  A blueway is a protected stream corridor managed for recreation and conservation.  Damian Fehrer, chair of the Friends of the Appomattox River, presented a scenic slide show of the Farmville Blueway to the Nora Lancaster Garden Club for their May 19, meeting.

The Upper Blueway begins at Wilck’s Lake leading to the Sarah Terry Trail which connects to the Lower Blueway, then becomes Buffalo Creek looping around past Mill Dam.  The four-mile Blueway is well marked and will take about 2 1/2 hours to complete (but can be done separately).  The God-made beauty and man-made historic points of interest are well worth a visit. More information can be found at www.FAR-VA.com or www.FarmvilleVA.com.
Awards for May exhibits and horticulture are Becky Kelly- one blue exhibit, two blue and one red horticulture, Judy O’Steen- one red horticulture; Barbara Smith- one red exhibit, and two blue horticulture; and Brenda Puryear- one blue horticulture.
