PUBLIC HEARING

The Cumberland County Planning Commission will meet on Monday, June 15, 2015 at 6:30 p.m., or as soon thereafter as may be heard, in Room C-8 of the Cumberland County Community Center located at the corner of Anderson Highway (Route 60) and Forest View Road (Route 628) in Cumberland, Virginia, to conduct a public hearing pursuant to Virginia Code Section 15.2-2204, which such hearing may be continued or adjourned, as required under applicable law, and to consider the following items and taking actions in furtherance thereof:

Code Amendment (CA) 15-08, Churches and Cemeteries in an A-2 district- The Cumberland County Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on allowing churches and cemeteries as permitted uses in the A-2 district.  Currently, these uses are both conditional uses in the A-2 district.

Rezoning (REZ) 15-02, Johnny R. Asal Lumber Company Inc.- A rezoning request of approximately 41.4 acres of property, currently zoned A-2, Agricultural to M-2, Industrial.  This property is located at 118 Salem Church Road, Tax Parcel 72-A-12.  The property is not located in a growth area as designated on the Comprehensive Plan.  The property is currently in use as a lumber company and the owner plans continued and expanded use of that facility.  The property is located in Election District 4.

Copies of the complete text of the proposed rezoning and code amendment are available for public review at the office of the Cumberland County Planning Department, County Administration Building, 1 Courthouse Circle, Cumberland, Virginia between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm of each business day.  The public is invited to attend this hearing at which persons affected may appear and present their views.
