APRIL 23 — Carl Gene Goforth, 86, of Farmville, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2015. He was born in Tennessee on September 13, 1928 to the late Charles F. and Della Webb Goforth.

He was a great outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt and was a member of the Farmville Exchange Club and Farmville Fire Department. He worked for the Town of Farmville as manager of the water filtration plant until he retired.

Mr. Goforth is survived by his wife, Mae Leatherwood Goforth; a granddaughter; a great-grandson; and two sisters, Helen Underwood of Pamplin and Sharon Harris of Appomattox. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Donnie, and five brothers, Clete, Conrad, Cecil, Bud and Ed Goforth.

A funeral service was held on Friday, April 24 at Shorter Funeral Home with interment at Trinity Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Farmville Fire Department and Prince Edward Rescue Squad.
