Farmville Teams Battle In Friday Swim Meet

On Friday, February 6, the Fuqua School and Prince Edward County High School swim teams met at the Southside Virginia Family YMCA for a swim meet. During the meet, both PECHS and Fuqua took six first place awards each. Fuqua won the Boys 200 Yard Medley Relay with a team made up of Andrew Horton, Troy Howard, Thomas Watson, and Johnson Carson. Watson also took first place in the Boys 200 Yard Individual Medley and the Boys 100 Yard Backstroke categories. Horton was named first in the Boys 500 Yard Freestyle, while Howard placed first in the Boys 50 Yard Freestyle category. Fuqua's Mike Liu finished in first in the Boys 100 Yard Breaststroke. PECHS' David Gills won first place in the Boys 200 Yard Freestyle, while Kaitlynn Faircloth won the Girls 100 Yard Butterfly category. Conner Burke took first in the Boys 100 Yard Freestyle for the Eagles. Prince Edward also had three teams to win first place awards. PECHS won the Boys 200 Yard Freestyle Relay with swimmers Matthew Hanson, Ron Weese, Niko Reinson, and Brady Adkins. The Eagles also won the Girls 400 Yard Freestyle Relay with a team of Meredith Brown, Sam Gubash, Courtney Bailey, and Faircloth. The Prince Edward team of Burke, Gills, Hanson, and Weese won first place in the Boys 400 Yard Freestyle Relays, as well.
