Longwood University’s 2015 MLK Service Challenge joined others across the nation and saw students volunteering their time and talent across the community on Monday, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. The Farmville Area Habitat for Humanity was among the beneficiaries of the day’s intent to celebrate Dr. King’s memory and mission by engaging in community service. From left are Longwood students Bryant “Bow” Winbush, Cainan Townsend, William Perkins-Goode (crouching), Lawrence “LT” Turner, Devon Johnson (blue bandana), Orlando Brown, Alexander Morton, and Jalen Jackson, behind Morton. All are in the Call Me MISTER program aimed at addressing the critical shortage of African American male teachers. (Provided Photo)
