Frances Simpson Asal, 89

JANUARY 22 — Frances Simpson Asal, 89, of Farmville, passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2015. She was born in Cumberland County to the late Harry H. and Mary Edwards Simpson on May 31, 1925.
She was a life long resident of Cumberland County, living on a small farm where she loved raising vegetables and flowers in her garden. She married her husband, Ernest Paul Asal on March 8, 1946 and worked at Roses for 37 years.
Mrs. Asal is survived by her husband; a daughter, Sylvia A. Higham of Valdosta, GA; grandchildren, Angela Markley (Mark) of Monticello, FL and Victor Decker of Valdosta, GA; great-grandchildren, Logan, Victoria, Sarah, Eli, and Sam Kercher, all of Monticello, FL; brother, Jack Simpson (Ruby) of Farmville; and sister-in-law, Alice Higgins of Farmville. She was preceded in death by her parents, and sisters, Polly Rousch and Virgie Nixon.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, January 25 at 2 p.m. at Antioch Methodist Church Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service starting at 1 p.m. in the church.
