The 2015 First Day Hike at Sailor’s Creek Battlefield will consist of an approximately one mile hiking loop of the Confederate Overlook Trail.

Learn about the battle that occurred on April 6, 1865, while exercising. Meet at 9 a.m. at the Visitor Center and start your year off early and in the right direction.

Granola bars will be provided as a treat upon completion of the hike. Hikers may call the park office at (804) 561-7510 or send an email message to amy.white@dcr.virginia.gov for status updates or if there is a possibility of cancellation due to the adverse weather conditions. This is a family-friendly event and is free to the public. Please wear warm, comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes.
