Happy Birthday wishes go out this week to Betty Waycaster, of Dillwyn, and Eric Cooke, of Cartersville, celebrating on Saturday, November 8, Rebecca Stuck, of Dillwyn, celebrating on Tuesday, November 11, and Frankie Braham, of Cumberland, and Rebecca Moore, of the Woodlands in Farmville, Thursday, November 13.

Welcome Wesleyan Church, located on North James Madison Highway, one-mile North of Central Virginia Community Health Center in New Canton, will host their third annual Pig Pick-in and silent auction on Saturday, November 8 from noon to 4 p.m.
Lunch will include pulled pork barbeque, baked beans, coleslaw, roll, dessert and a drink for a donation. You may dine-in or take-out. Pulled pork barbeque by the quart will be $8.
All proceeds resulting from this event will go to help two churches in the Shenandoah Valley with missions. To pre-order, contact Chuck Fairchild at 434-987-1287.
There will be a benefit Gospel Sing for Bright Morning Star Church of Dillwyn at Hatcher Baptist Church, located on Gravel Hill Road in Cumberland on Saturday, November 8 at 5 p.m. Several churches are co-hosting this benefit. Refreshments will follow in the church fellowship hall.
Union Branch Baptist Church, located on Bridgeport Road in Arvonia, will hold food distrubtion on Saturday, November 8 from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. Recipients must be a Buckingham County Resident. There will be a Turkey Shoot Benefit on Saturday, November 8, at 5:30 p.m. at the Bell Road Hunt Shack Hwy. 668 for a family that lost everything in a house fire on Wednesday, Oct. 22. Buckingham Baptist Church, located on North James Madison Highway in Arvonia will be serving supper Wednesday evenings from 5:15-6:15 p.m. in the church fellowship hall. The cost is $4 per person or a family for $15 to cover food cost. A Bible study will follow at 6:30 p.m.
