Buckingham Double Homicide, Suspect Arrested Sunday

BUCKINGHAM — The Buckingham County Sheriff’s Office is calling an incident where two men were discovered dead following a reported shooting early Sunday morning a double homicide.
According to a press release dated November 23 from Buckingham Sheriff William G. “Billy” Kidd Jr., “On November 23…at around 4:38 a.m., the Buckingham County Emergency Communications Center received a call about a shooting that occurred at 78 Roachs Lane, Dillwyn, Virginia. Deputies responded and discovered two deceased males, later identified as Radford Thomas Ranson (age 65) of Dillwyn and Kenneth Dean Beasley (age 51) of Dillwyn.”
The release states that a joint investigation between the Buckingham County Sheriff’s Office and Virginia State Police led to the arrest of a 39-year-old Dillwyn man.
According to felony arrest warrants obtained by The Herald, Greg A. Taylor was arrested and charged on Sunday afternoon in connection to the deaths of both Ranson and Beasley.
Taylor was apprehended at the scene by deputies, explains the release, “…and there were not any indications that any other individuals were involved…Taylor is being held, without bond, at Piedmont Regional Jail in Farmville…”, the press release states.
“I…would like to thank my deputies for their quick response and the Virginia State Police for their assistance with this case,” Sheriff Kidd notes in the release. “My thoughts and prayers go out to the families affected by this tragic event…I am also proud to have such a dedicated and professional group to draw upon, both in my office and the Virginia State Police in times like this. Our commitment to protecting the citizens of Buckingham truly shined today,” the release concludes.
