On Wednesday, October 8, the Hampden-Sydney Music Series hosts Baroque chamber ensemble Musical Offering as they perform works by C.P.E. Bach, J.C. Bach, Mozart, and Beethoven.
The group brings together Boston-area musicians who specialize in pieces of the late-eighteenth century, from the last throes of the High Baroque through a wildly emotional Galant period leading up to Mozart.
The group features singer Julia Cavallaro; harpsichord and organ recitalist Matthew Hall; violist and baroque violinist Sarah Darling; and flutist Sarah Paysnick. In regard to their performances, Musical Offering says, “We aim to present more than concerts: our programs aspire to be gatherings in which thoughts and experiences can be shared in a free exchange among audience and ensemble members.”
The concert, free and open to the public, begins at 7:30 p.m. in Crawley Forum. This series is part of Hampden-Sydney’s continuing commitment to the intellectual and cultural enrichment of the Southside community.
