Extension Offers Meat Canning Class

A meat canning class will be hosted at the Prince Edward County Extension Office on October 30 from 6 to 9 p.m. and taught by Eric Bowen, Area Food Safety agent for Virginia Cooperative Extension. Class size is limited to the first 10 registrants and the cost is $25 per participant.

Participants will learn how to safely and property can meat and venison in a pressure canner. All materials will be supplied for each participant to can one pint of meat to take home. This class teaches safe food preservation by the part pants being engaged and participating in every step of the process.
