Happy Birthday wishes go out this week to Helen Connell, of Dillwyn, celebrating on Friday, July 18, Frankie Jones, of Winginia, celebrating on Saturday, July 19, and Marie Adams, of Farmville, celebrating on Monday, July 21.

Barry and Linda Miles, of Cumberland, visited in the home of Grace Hudgins and Mae Rutherford, both of Cumberland, on Monday, July 14. A nice time was had by all.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those who are sick and shut-in.

A continued speedy recovery is sent out this week to Linda Miles who underwent outpatient hand surgery on Friday, July 11. She is said to be getting along nicely.

Dot Brown, of Richmond, and Bradley Carter, of North Carolina, spent a few days with their sister, Ann Carter, in Dillwyn last week.

Barry and Linda Miles along with Jane Cooke, of Brookneal, all enjoyed an afternoon meal at a Dillwyn restaurant on Sunday, July 13.

Linda Seay, of Richmond, spent a few days with her mother, Elizabeth Stone, in Dillwyn recently.

A little Biblical humor: Why didn’t they play cards on the ark? Answer: Because Noah was standing on the deck.

Union Branch Baptist Church, located on Bridgeport Road in Arvonia, will hold their food distribution on Saturday, July 26, from 9-11 a.m. Recipients must be a Buckingham County resident and will receive one box per household, served on a first-come first-served basis or until all the food is gone. Teresa’s Place Sprouses Corner Dillwyn, presents summer monthly Cruise-In July 19. It’s with their second of five Cruise-Ins. This month Alumni Cruise-See which HS Class has the most Cruisers from 5-8:30 p.m. All makes and models are welcome. This event is free for the whole family. Union Branch Baptist Church, located on Bridgeport Rd., in Arvonia, will be celebrating their 133rd anniversary on Sunday, July 27 at 11 a.m. with services on the church grounds followed by a cookout. All are invited to wear comfortable attire and bring a lawn chair.

Union Branch Baptist Church will also host their annual revival services starting Monday, July 28 and spanning through Friday, August 1. The guest preacher for the week will be Rev. Dr. C.W. Dunning from Lynchburg.

Maranatha Baptist Church, located on Tuggle Rd. in Farmville, will present Southern Gospel Music on Sunday evening, July 27, at 6 p.m. featuring Smokey Wilson of Concord.

A love offering will be received. Following this there will be light refreshments and a time of fellowhsip in the church fellowship hall.
