LYNCHBURG — On Friday, July 11, Buckingham County High School head football coach, Craig Gill, and former BCHS player, Kenneth Johnson, participated in the VHSCA All-Star football game at Liberty University.
“The VHSCA selects some of the finest seniors to participate in All-Star activities every year. This was the first time in a long time that the event was in Lynchburg, usually it is in Hampton. It was well attended by the Buckingham crowd,” commented BCHS assistant coach, Matt Allen.
Gill was selected as an assistant coach for the East staff during the event (his second appearance as an assistant coach in one of the VHSCA events), while Johnson was selected as a running back for the East team. Johnson assisted the East team in their 14-7 win against the West team, by scoring the first touchdown of the night on a 10-yard run.
Johnson is the third Knights football player in four years to represent Buckingham in the All-Star game. Maurice Taylor and Tarian Ayres also played in the event for BCHS in 2011 and 2012.
