Living History Event At Sailor's Creek June 28

Published 4:28 pm Tuesday, June 24, 2014

On Saturday, June 28, living history portrayers of the American Civil War Confederate Marine Battalion will hold an encampment for the public on the Sailor’s Creek Battlefield Historical State Park Visitor Center grounds. The program is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Learn about this small but elite force, which made its last stand at the Battle of Little Sailor’s Creek in April 1865. Distinctive small arms drills and firing demonstrations will be conducted periodically; marine uniforms, equipment displays and camp life interpretations are also featured.

The encampment and its programs are free to the public; however, donations to the Friends of Sailor’s Creek are welcomed to help support future educational programs at the park.
