The Farmville Area Chamber of Commerce, in an effort to provide a valuable education opportunity for local business owners, is sponsoring a workshop entitled Seven Steps to Small Business Marketing Success on June 11. The free workshop, which is co-sponsored by Midtown Mailboxes, Kinex Telecom, and WFLO radio, will be led by small business marketing expert Kevin Jordan from Redpoint Marketing Consultants.

In the workshop, Jordan will be teaching business owners what is widely considered to be the most successful small business marketing system in the world. The system is called Duct Tape Marketing due to the fact that it’s simple, affordable, and above all, practical—just like duct tape. Jordan is one of about 65 consultants across the world who have been trained and authorized to help local business owners apply the methods and principles of Duct Tape Marketing to their own organizations.

“I’m excited every time I have the opportunity to teach the Duct Tape Marketing system to a new group of business owners,” said Jordan. “It reminds me of the first time I learned the system for myself—it was like a veil had been lifted from my eyes, and suddenly small business marketing made sense. I love seeing that same reaction in the people who attend my workshops.”

So, how does this unique system make marketing easier to understand? According to Jordan, it starts with the way Duct Tape Marketing defines marketing. “Marketing is the process of getting a member of a narrowly defined target audience to know, like, and trust your business,” he says. “Once you start thinking of marketing in that way, it changes everything. Much of what many business owners call ‘marketing’ would not actually be considered marketing according to that definition.”
