May 8 — Happy birthday wishes go out to Cheyenne Marion, of Cumberland, Joyce Smith, of Phenix, and Blake Waycaster, son of Tommy Jo (T.J.) and Stephanie Waycaster, of Dillwyn, all celebrating on Saturday, May 10; Winnie Brown, of Dillwyn, celebrating on Monday, May 12; Charles Yates, of Dillwyn, celebrating on Wednesday, May 14, and Lilly Pearl Norman, of Farmville, celebrating on Thursday, May 15.

Barry and Linda Miles, of Cumberland, along with Annie May Miles and Susie Taylor, both of Dillwyn, and Patricia Woodfin, of New Canton, all enjoyed an evening of great food and fellowship at a Dillwyn restaurant on Thursday, May 1.

Remember Mother’s Day is May 11. Let us all be thankful and grateful for our Godly moms who led the way to righteous living and cares for us and loves us. So do something special for her and tell her that you love her.

The Hudgins family reunion will be held on Sunday afternoon from noon to 5 p.m. at the home of James and Virginia Boyles of Cumberland.

Mae Rutherford along with Barry and Linda Miles and Annie May Miles, Susie Taylor, Patricia Woodfin and Southern Gospel Music Soloist Danny Figgins (The Singing Policeman) all enjoyed an early morning breakfast and time of fellowship at a Dillwyn restaurant Sunday, May 4.

A little Biblical humor: Which area of the Middle East was especially wealthy? Answer: The area around Jordan. The banks were always overflowing.

Buckingham Baptist Church of Gold Hill hosts a fellowship meal and Bible Study Wednesday evenings. Supper is served from 5:15-6:15 p.m. in the church fellowship hall. A complete meal is $3 per person; those ages three years and under eat for free. There is a maximum of $12 a family.

Following this there will be Bible Study. Pastor Doug Adams and the congregation cordially invite all to attend.

Welcome Wesleyan church located on U.S. Route 15 north of Dillwyn in Arvonia, will be hosting a pancake supper on Friday evening May 16, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Supper will include pancakes, sausage and drink for a donation. All are invited to eat-in or take-out. Proceeds resulting from this event will be used to refurnish the nursery.
