PAMPLIN, May 6 — Nancy Eula Welch (Momieo) Carwile, 90, of Pamplin, died Monday morning, May 5, 2014, at her residence. She was the wife of Hugh Elliott Carwile Jr., for 67 years.

Mrs. Carwile was born in Accomack County October 10, 1923, a daughter of the late Florence Walker and Rev. Robert P. Welch. She was an active member of Spring Creek Baptist Church. She was a LPN, worked for the Appomattox County Department of Social Services and retired from the Prince Edward County Department of Social Services.

In addition to her husband, Hugh, she is survived by her children, Edna C. Francis of Appomattox, Jeanne Carrington of Richmond, Bobby Carwile and wife, Linda of Calvin, OK, Steve Carwile, Gerald Carwile and wife, Debbie all of Pamplin; a brother, Rev. Carroll B. Welch and wife, Joyce of Madison Heights; sisters-in-law, Shirley Welch of Galax and Virginia Welch of Pamplin; she was a loving Momieo to 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; special son-in-law and daughter-in-law, Bill and Ellen Pettus and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Pettus, grandson, Will Pettus, great-granddaughter, Violet Carwile, son-in-law, Bill Francis, brothers, Clarence Welch, Ewart Welch, Gene Welch and an infant sister.

Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, May 8 at Spring Creek Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the residence at any time.
