MEHERRIN, May 8 — Kimberly Michelle Whitehead was born at Southside Community Hospital in Farmville on June 24, 1970 to Leonard Whitehead and Janis Taylor Whitehead. She passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2014. She was a member of Springfield Baptist Church in Meherrin.
Ms. Whitehead graduated from Central Senior High School in Lunenburg County in 1988. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in math from Hampton University in Hampton in 1992. She continued her education at Howard University in Washington, DC and later earned a Master of Public Health degree from the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. She also received a Doctor of Medicine degree from the Spartan Health Sciences University in St. Lucia, West Indies. She was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.
She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted mother, Janis; a loving brother, Taylor; seven aunts, Violet Forrest, Naomi Whitehead, Esther High, Constance O’Bryant, Virginia Taylor, Geraldine Taylor, Myrna Taylor and Verna Spencer; three great-aunts, Ellen Greenlee, Zenobia Batchelor and Hortense Chappell; six uncles, Joseph Taylor, John Taylor, Clarence Taylor, Percy High, Thomas Thompson and Richard Forrest; as well as a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service was held Saturday, May 3 at Springfield Baptist Church, Meherrin, with the Rev. Dr. Theodore T. Brown, pastor, and the Rev. Dr. Percy L. High, eulogist. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
