NEW CANTON, January 28 — Ray Garnett Davidson, 77, of New Canton, went to be with the Lord on Friday night, January 24, 2014. He was born August 1, 1936 in Buckingham County, a son of the late Russell Edward and Dolly Wharham Davidson.

Mr. Davidson loved spending time outside tending to their garden, and hunting. He always had a kind word and a warm smile for everyone. He will be deeply missed by all. A deep appreciation is extended to all the staff at the Envoy at the village Nursing Home in Fork Union Virginia.

He is survived by his loving friend of 12 years, Jean Anderson; sons, Lonnie Ray Davidson of Owings Mill, Maryland, and Michael Gene Davidson Sr. and wife, April of West Point; two grandchildren, Michael and Emily Davidson; and many other family members and friends. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Sally B. Davidson and son, Robert Michael Davidson.

A funeral service was conducted Tuesday, January 28 at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, New Canton, with interment in the church cemetery.

The family would prefer memorial contributions be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 6277 Cartersville Road, New Canton, Virginia, 23123.

Colbert Funeral Home, Bremo Bluff, was in charge of arrangements.
