Edwin Robert “Bob” Voorhees, 68

BUCKINGHAM, January 23 — Edwin Robert “Bob” Voorhees, 68, of Buckingham, died Saturday morning, January 18, 2014 in Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of the late Darlene Witt Voorhees.

Mr. Voorhees was born June 16, 1945 in Connecticut, a son of the late Loretta Prince and Edwin Robert Voorhees Sr. He was a member of Glory Baptist Church, a retired electrician for the Department of Corrections at Nottoway and Buckingham Units, a US Navy veteran and a member of the American Legion.

He is survived a son, Michael Voorhees and wife, Bobbie of Dry Fork; a daughter, Paula Lowe and husband, John of Buckingham; a brother, Donald Voorhees and wife, Glenda Williams of Florida; a sister, Emily Voorhees of Connecticut; a granddaughter, Brittany Lowe “The light of her PaPa’s life” and ten step-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held Tuesday, January 21 at Glory Baptist Church with the Rev. Chris Brooks and the Rev. Jeff Worley officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery with Military Rites accorded by American Legion Post #104 & V.F.W. #9855 combined honor guard.
