December 12 — Happy Birthday wishes are sent out this week to: Nancy Midkiff, of Cumberland, celebrating on Friday, December 13, Mary Flint, of Cumberland, celebrating on Saturday, December 14; and Glenda Walton, of Dillwyn, celebrating on Monday, December 1.
Patsy Jones, of Pamplona, Barry and Linda Miles, of Cumberland, Toney Preston and his son, Tyler, and Holly Cook, all of Mecklenburg, all enjoyed an afternoon of great food, fun and fellowship at a Cumberland Restaurant on Friday, December 6. Later that afternoon everyone visited in the home of Ruby Cogdill, also of Cumberland.
Happy Anniversary wishes go out this week to Earl and Gladys Absher of Dillwyn, celebrating on December 16.
Barry and Linda Miles, Susie Taylor and Judy Durand, of Dillwyn, along with Patricia Woodfin, of New Canton, all enjoyed an evening meal at a Dillwyn Restaurant on Friday evening, December 6. All had a nice time.

Union Branch Baptist Church, located on Bridgeport Road in Arvonia, will be distributing food boxes on Saturday, December 15 from 9 a.m. to noon (or until all the food is gone). One box per household it is on a first-come first-served basis. Recipients must be a Buckingham County resident. Maranatha Baptist Church, located on Tuggle Road in Farmville, will present their annual Christmas program on Sunday evening, December 22 at 6 p.m. This year’s theme is “The Christmas Story.” Following this, there will be refreshments and door prizes. Drawings in the church fellowship hall. Pastor Steve Conwell and the congregation cordially invite all to attend. Welcome Wesleyan Church, located on U.S. Route 15 North of Dillwyn one-mile north of Central Virginia Community Health Center, will be presenting their Annual Christmas Program on Saturday, December 14, at 7 p.m. This year’s theme will be “Christmas Comes to a Loan Star Gulch,” a Christmas Musical for the entire family.
