On Saturday Nov. 2, the sounds of hoofbeats and the creak of a wagon wheel will echo in the Cumberland State Forest as Bear Creek Lake State Park presents a Harvest-time Wagon Ride.
Local resident Kenny England and his team will cover about three miles while participants enjoy the leisurely pace and fall forest scenery. A Park ranger will provide remarks about the area’s history and environment. The wagon is equipped with comfortable seats and backrest railings. Seating is limited to 11 people per tour. Children under 12 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. No pets, please.
The tour is scheduled for 1 p.m. If that tour is sold out, a second tour will be offered at 3 p.m. The ride will leave from the Linen Building parking area on Blue Heron Drive, on the west side of the lake. Daily parking fees will apply, and may be paid at the Park Office.
Pre-payment and registration is required. The cost is $3 per person. The family rate is $10 for four people. To register, contact the Park Office at 804-492-4410 during business hours. Mastercard and VISA are accepted.
