Editor, The Herald:

A recent four-day stay at Centra Southside Community Hospital has again reminded me that too often we tend to believe distant treasures are more valuable than those nearby. Since moving here from Chesapeake in 1999, my wife, Sarah, and I have been hospitalized several times. The experiences I have had with my personal care have always been positive. But this past visit for me is especially notable.

The concern shown by Dr. Taylor and the third floor nursing staff was more than professional duty; it left me, at times, with the sense that I was being cared for by family members. I hope that CSCH will continue to grow and prosper.
