Mr. and Mrs. Michael Guyer, of Cumberland, announce the engagement of their daughter, Abigail Guyer, to Cody Barden, son of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Barden, of Amelia.

Abby is a 2007 graduate of Cumberland High School and a 2010 graduate of Old Dominion University with a B.S. in Exercise Science. She earned a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Shenandoah University in August 2013. She recently started practicing at Tidewater Physical Therapy in Powhatan.

Cody is a 2007 graduate of Amelia County High School and 2011 graduate of University of Virginia with a B.S. in Environmental Science. He is currently pursuing an MBA at the VCU School of Business. He is currently employed at Markel Corporation as an Environmental Underwriter. Cody is the grandson of Virginia Jones and the late Robert L. Jones, formally of Amelia.

A June 21, 2014, wedding date has been set at the University of Virginia Chapel in Charlottesville.
