The Annual Service at Grace Episcopal Church, Ca Ira will be held on Oct. 6, at 11 a.m.

The Rev. D. Donald Dunn III will hold the service. Rev. Dunn is a retired priest in the Diocese of Southern Virginia. He was a professional interim and served numerous churches in four dioceses before returning to Powhatan where he lives with his wife, Mary. This is his second visit to Ca Ira, the first was in 1978.

The present church building was begun in 1840 and evidently completed in the early part of 1843. The land was given or conveyed by deed dated Nov. 12, 1843, from Valentine Parrish. It was an active church for many years and in 1930 there is a report of the formation of a Society for the Preservation of Grace Church at Ca Ira. Since that time annual meetings have been held.

The community is invited to worship in this historic building on Sunday, Oct. 6. There will be a brief meeting after the service with lunch on the grounds (weather permitting) after the meeting. Please bring a dish to share. Plates, cups, napkins, etc. will be furnished.
