Fireworks Are Ready, Again, Now For Sept. 1

FARMVILLE — The Fourth of July celebration’s loss is the upcoming Labor Day weekend’s gain.
The fuses for the Town of Farmville’s Independence Day celebration fireworks display were about to be lit until the sky became so filled with rain there was no room for a single rocket. And the sodden ground was too damp for anyone to enjoy watching the spectacle, anyway.
So, the annual Fireworks After Dark celebration now becomes a Labor Day weekend festivity at the Farmville Regional Airport, beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 1.
Music will still be provided by Soul Expressions Band, of Richmond, and a special guest, ABC Duets contestant and musical artist Bridget Carrington.
Admission is $5 per vehicle and the gates open at 4:30 p.m.
The fireworks will be sent skyward after dark.
Let the rain be warned.
