July 4 – The Davenport family reunion was held in North Carolina last weekend. Attending locally was the Wayne Davenport Family of Dillwyn. Everyone enjoyed great food, fun and fellowship.
Pete and Annie May Miles, of Dillwyn, visited in the home of Tom and Mildred Brown in Cumberland on Tuesday, July 2 and in the home of James and Virginia Boyles of Cumberland on Wednesday, July 3.
Sympathy is extended to the Boyles Family of Amelia. Alison Anderson Boyles, 93, of Amelia passed way on Friday, June 28. A funeral service was held July 1. She was the sister-in-law of Elizabeth Stone of Dillwyn and James Boyles of Cumberland. She will be greatly missed by all.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those who are sick and shut-in. Boo and Peggy Weaver, of Chester, visited in the home of Ruby Cogdill in Cumberland on Sunday afternoon, June 30.

The Buckingham County Christian fellowship association, a non-profit organization will be hosting their regular monthly meeting on Monday, July 8, at 5 p.m. at Browns Chapel United Methodist Church, located off of U.S. 15 North of Dillwyn on State Route 617 (Gravel Hill Road). All members are welcome to attend and bring a covered dish for the evening meal. The July program will follow the meal. Buckingham County Christian Fellowship Association a non-profit organization will be sponsoring a one-day bus trip to the Wohlfahrt Haus Dinner Theater in Wytheville, on Saturday, Aug. 17.

Spreading God's Gifts, Inc. is a local non-profit home-grown faith-based ministry organization that assists working individuals or families in need. Primarily serving Buckingham and surrounding counties. On Saturday evening, July 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the VFW Hall on Rt. 60 in Buckingham. Spreading God's Gifts will host a benefit dinner concert and bake sale auction. Dinner will include fried chicken, corn, green beans, bread, dessert and a drink all for a donation. Gospel Music will feature the groups More Than Blessed and Pastor Maynard Jones and family all from the Union Branch Baptist Church in Arvonia. There also will be door prizes given away.
Funds resulting from this event will help individuals and families in their hour of need. All are invited to make plans to join in for an evening of great food and music.
