The Knights of Columbus Council from St. Theresa's Catholic Church, every April, is involved in raising funds for KOVAR. KOVAR is a Virginia Knights of Columbus organization that raises money each year for the Special Olympics and to provide for groups that assist folks with intellectual disabilities in the Commonwealth and in our area. Knights with their familiar yellow vests stand and collect from donors in front of Wal-Mart, the Kroger Center, and at the ABC store in Farmville. This year, the Council was successful in having folks from our area donate over $4400 to this cause. The Knights are grateful to our community who, all together, were especially generous this year, giving more than they did last year by over 40 percent. Knights are also very grateful to those storeowners who continue to support the Knights by allowing them to collect from their customers as they enter and leave stores and establishments. Knights will continue to do events for KOVAR and other charitable causes, as they have in the past, and hope that folks in our area continue to support their charitable efforts.
