June 13 – “Life is for living, love is for giving.”

Want to support some good acting and our local theatre, then come out this Friday or Saturday night to the Waterworks Players production of Barefoot In The Park? Play starts at 8 p.m. If for some reason you cannot make it this weekend, it will be seen next weekend as well, June 21-22.

The Prospect Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary will have their “Meatloaf” dinner on Saturday, June 22, 5 to 7 p.m., cost will be a donation. The meal includes meatloaf, mashed potatoes, gravy, butter beans, corn pudding, fruit, tea, lemonade and dessert. Come on out to support your Fire Department.

The Curdsville Community Center is having a “Father's Day BBQ” on Saturday June 13, from 5 to 8 p.m., cost is $10 a person except for children under six and they eat free. At 6 p.m. their will be an auction of pies and cakes, be sure you are there for the auction.

Cathy Kelsey and mother-in-law Peggy Kelsey, were guest at the Boat House at Brandermill in honor of Phillip Kelsey's birthday Sunday afternoon. Phil Kelsey from Rancho Cucamonga, California, Melissa Kelsey and Bryson Kelsey were also present.

Mrs. Betty Shumaker, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Shumaker (Kim), Debra Sue and Darrell attended the high school graduation ceremonies of Brock Shumaker, son of Dennis and Kimberley Shumaker in York, Pennsylvania over the weekend. They visited in the Shumaker home after the graduation.

Brianna Smith spent Saturday at the home of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith. She helped her grandmother with assorted household chores and then enjoyed dinner out with both of her grandparents.

Mr. and Mrs. John Fulcher attended a benefit for Debbie Allen on Friday night at the Cumberland Fire House.

Mr. and Mrs. Ray Noblin attended the annual Arrington Family Reunion on Sunday at the Pamplin Fire House. There was a very good turn out with good food, fellowship and many family stories going around. They always enjoy getting together.

Mr. and Mrs. John Fulcher visited with his niece, Gloria Mae Fulcher Rosser on Sunday afternoon at the Woodlands.

Holy Murdock spent last Wednesday with her great grandmother, Mrs. Flora Bolt. They had a good time making cakes.

Mrs. Billie Jo Marsden Waddell and daughter, Avery Elizabeth are visiting her mother, E. Susan Campbell and brother, John Marsden the past two weeks.

Family, friends and neighbors wish a speedy recovery for those who are sick at this time Dennis Leonard and Douglas Ferguson.

Friends and neighbors are expressing their sincere sympathy to the family of Charlotte Brisentine.

Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle invites everyone to Sunday School at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m. Rev. Chuck Klotzberger will be in the pulpit this Sunday.

The membership of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church at Prospect invites you to come and worship with them every Sunday; Sunday School is at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m. The Rev. Katherine Todd will bring the message on Sunday.

Calvary Chapel-Farmville invites you to worship with them on Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. They invite you to join them each week on Wednesday evening for Bible Study for all age groups at 7 p.m. The Church is located at 300 Industrial Park Blvd., in the former Stackpole-Carbone building.
