June 6 – “Tomorrow is a vision waiting to be captured.”
The United Daughters of the Confederacy will met Wednesday, June 12 at 2 p.m. at the Farmville/Prince Edward Community Library.
Mrs. John Gager, of Farmville, and her sister, Mrs. Eddie Young attended the wedding of Heather Love and Joseph Vance at Bernard's Landing on Smith Mountain Lake on Saturday. It was a lovely outdoor wedding and many friends and relatives attended.
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Noblin traveled to Amelia to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Arrington where they attended a surprise 80th birthday party for their sister Ruth. Other family members were in attendance.
Mrs. Sue Amos has returned home from Columbus, OH, after spending two weeks with her son in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Mike McLaughlin. While there she spent time with her grandchildren; Jake Bowman, Jessica Bowman and Joe Bowman, and great-grandson Noah. Mrs. McLaughlin and daughter Jessica brought Mrs. Amos home on Friday. She spent the weekend with Mrs. McLaughlin, Lisa Newcomb and family at Pamplin.
Brianna, Charles and Christina Smith spent Sunday night at the home of their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith. On Monday they all traveled to Stafford to visit Mr. Smith's mother, Mrs. Delores Smith.
The 45th annual Penick reunion was held June 1 at the Gee-Price Building at Fuqua School. Those attending are descendants of Lavaulette M. and Margaret DeJarnette Price Penick. Those present enjoyed family news, pictures, good food and swimming. Mr. and Dr. Lon Stockton, Jr. and Sean, and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Stockton. Margaret served as chairman and Victoria Carter of Chester served as secretary.
Mrs. Peggy Kelsey was among those attending the baby shower for Renae Whirley at her home Sunday afternoon.
Mrs. Hilda Allen has returned home following a most enjoyable week with her son in-law, daughter and grandson; Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Justus and Jacob in Damascus.
Mrs. Flora Bolt; Jennifer Bolt and children, Joshua and Jacob, and Sara Ott attended the Buckingham Jubilee at the Robert E. Lee Wayside June 1. Kyle Bolt and his group also attended betraying the Bedford Boys of the 29 Infantry of World War II. They dug fox holes and had on display authentic clothes, guns, supplies and personal items the soldiers would have used.
Mrs. Flora Bolt and Jennifer Bolt were dinner guest of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Bolt on Sunday the 2 of June.
Family, friends and neighbors wish a speedy recovery for those who are sick at this time Gloria Mae Fulcher Rosser and Bill Kerns.
Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle invites everyone to Sunday School at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m. Rev. Chuck Klotzberger will be in the pulpit this Sunday.
The membership of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church at Prospect invites you to come and worship with them every Sunday; Sunday School is at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m. The Rev. Katherine Todd will bring the message on Sunday.
Calvary Chapel-Farmville invites you to worship with them on Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. They invite you to join them each week on Wednesday evening for Bible Study for all age groups at 7 p.m. The Church is located at 300 Industrial Park Blvd., in the former Stackpole-Carbone building.
