Welcome home to Ruby Cogdill of Cumberland who spent a few days recently in the hospital. She is said to be doing ok as of this writing. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those who are sick and shut-in.

A large crowd attended a luncheon at the home of Nell Spain in Cumberland on Saturday, June 1. Everyone enjoyed a great day of food, fun and fellowship.

A fundraiser has been scheduled to help Debbie Allen, of Cumberland with medical expenses. She has no insurance and bills are adding up. On Friday evening, June 7 from 4-8 p.m. at the Cumberland County Volunteer Fire Department on Route 13 in Cumberland there will be a benefit spaghetti supper, dine-in or take-out. The menu will include homemade spaghetti, bread, salad, drink and dessert for a donation. Other activities include bake sale auction and other items, vendors, door prizes and music featuring Second Time Around with Bob Estes and Tommy Moore of Buckingham. Arvonia Christian Fellowship Church Thrift Store located off of U.S. Route 15 North of Dillwyn on Circle Drive in Arvonia, is open every Thursday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. All proceeds from the thrift store are used to help individuals and families in their hour of need.
