PE Darlings, DYB Minors Tournaments To Begin Friday

The Prince Edward Farmville Youth Association Darlings will begin play in the District I Dixie Softball Tournament this Friday at 8 p.m. in the nightcap game against Brunswick.
The Prince Edward Farmville Darlings/Brunswick winner will play the winner between Dinwiddie and Crewe-Burkeville at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
The Prince Edward/Brunswick loser will play at 6 p.m. on Friday against the Dinwiddie/Crewe-Burkeville loser.
South Hill will play Emporia on Friday at 3 p.m. The winner will receive a bye in the second round.
Lunenburg will play Blackstone at 4:30 p.m., and will play Clarksville, which received an opening round bye, on Saturday.
District IV Minors
The District IV Minor League (AAA) Tournament will begin at Gene Dixon Memorial Park in Dillwyn on Friday.
The five-team double-elimination tournament will begin at 6:30 p.m. with Goochland playing Scottsville. Powhatan and Amelia will play in the nightcap.
Tournament host Buckingham will play the Goochland/Scottsville winner on Saturday at 6 p.m.
The winner of that game will face the Powhatan/Amelia winner on Monday.
The losers of Friday's ballgames will meet in an elimination game on Saturday at 8 p.m.
District V Minors
As the hosts for the upcoming State Dixie Youth Baseball AAA Tournament, the Prince Edward Farmville Youth Association Minors will not enter the District V Tournament, which is scheduled to begin on Friday at Beamer Field in Crewe.
Six teams will begin a double-elimination tournament to see which one will join their District V mates on July 19 at the Field of Dreams Complex.
Dinwiddie National and Blackstone will begin play at 4 p.m., with Charlotte County and Dinwiddie American to play at 6 p.m. and host Crewe-Burkeville and Lunenburg to play at 8 p.m. in the nightcap.
The Dinwiddie National/Blackstone loser will face the Charlotte County/Dinwiddie American loser at 2 p.m. on Saturday, with the winners squaring off at 4 p.m.
The Crewe-Burkeville/Lunenburg winner will receive a bye on Saturday, and will face the remaining undefeated team on Sunday at 5 p.m.
The loser of the Crewe-Burkeville/Lunenburg game will also receive a bye into Sunday, and will face the winner of Saturday's elimination game at 3 p.m.
All games in the District V AAA Tournament will be broadcast on WVHL 92.9 FM.
