BUCKINGHAM – County residents interested in becoming candidates in the special elections for two school board seats have until August 16 to file to run.

The resignations by incumbents in District 4 (Maysville Precinct) and District 7 (Gold Hill Precinct) have created the openings.

The special school board elections will be held on the same day, November 5, as the general election, which will see voters cast ballots statewide for governor, lieutenant governor and attorney general, in addition to local elections.

The extended deadline of August 16 in the school board election is slightly more than two months of additional time, because it is a special election, for candidates to file.

June 11, the date of the Democratic Primary last week, was the filing deadline for all other local elections across the Commonwealth for the November 5 election ballot.

The deadline to register to vote on November 5 is October 15.
