FARMVILLE – A $50,000 grant to Madeline's House from the Presbyterian Women Mission Committee is providing valuable funding for ensuring the shelter's sustainability.
According to Myrna McKay, Farmville Presbyterian liaison to Madeline's House, winning the grant was a year-long process.
It began when the local Presbyterian Women learned of the possibility of securing the grant last spring. Through a process that included securing letters of endorsement and the preparation of an extensive grant application, the final proposal was submitted to the Special Offerings Committee of the Presbyterian Women in Louisville, Kentucky.
Emily Marshall, Executive Director, Madeline's House, said, ” Madeline's House will receive $35,000 this month and the remaining balance by December 31. What a blessing. Many thanks to all who were involved.”
The funds for the grant come through the annual Thank Offering of the Presbyterian Women which is collected in the fall of each year giving women a tangible way to express their gratitude for the special blessings in their lives. Over $350,00 in grants were awarded to local, national and international organizations this year.
