SPCA Seeks Volunteers And Monetary Help

Published 3:33 pm Thursday, May 30, 2013

On Sunday, May 19 Southside SPCA took in a record 49 dogs…all from the same home. Then they went back after making new arrangements for the balance of the dogs and brought the others to the shelter.

The biggest need is veterinary care. Every dog must be vetted, immunized, and spayed/neutered before being amiable for adoption. Several of the dogs have a condition know as “cherry eye” which will require surgery. A number of them have skin conditions that will require treatment, not to mention fleas, ticks, and intestinal parasites. As they are vetted, some will need treatment for a host of other diseases: heart worms, Enrlichia, Lyme Disease, and more.

Financial support is appreciated now more than ever. You can donate online at www.southsidespca.org or by mail to: Southside SPCA, P.O. Box 66, Meherrin, VA 23954.
