School Of The Soldier At Sailor's Creek
Published 3:32 pm Thursday, May 30, 2013
Celebrate National Get Outdoors Day and enjoy the early June outdoor weather as you learn how the American Civil War soldier did the same-while cooking his rations. On June 8, from 1-3 p.m., join a park educator in the third installment of our School of the Soldier series as he demonstrates the hard-earned culinary skills of the infantryman.
Learn about “skillygalee,” “hardtack,” and “corn doggers” as you interact with a costumed interpreter to discover how the soldier worked with his comrades preparing and sharing meals while on the march.
The program is appropriate for ages eight and up. The event is weather dependent and will not be rescheduled.
