Children, families, teachers, cities, towns, and parks are gearing up for this year's National Kids to Parks Day (KTP), a national-wide day of outdoor play organized by National Park Trust (NPT) in cooperation with a host of national collaborators. This year's KTP Day will be held on Saturday, May 18.

High Bridge Trail State Park and the Prince Edward County 4-H Extension office have teamed up to remind adults to take a child in their lives to a park – where they can hike a trail or visit a national historic site. This is the time to focus on children in nature.

One opportunity to take a child outdoors is to visit High Bridge Trail State Park on Saturday May 18th, take a picture and submit it for a chance to win prizes. You may email your photo to jebowen1@vt.edu or bring it/mail it to the 4-H office at 100 Dominion Drive, Farmville, VA 23901 by 5/31/13.

There will be prizes in each age group category (5 to 8 years; 9-13 years, 14-18 years). Prizes include $25 toward a 4-H summer or after-school program for the 2013-14 school year and official High Bridge Trail State Park patches.

Take the time to connect a child with an American treasure – a park. Please feel free to contact the park with any questions or further contest rules at 434-315-0457 or email highbridgetrail@dcr.virgina.gov.
