MAY 9 – John Wayne Moorefield, 64, of Farmville, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2013 in Lynchburg. He was born May 1, 1949 to the late Alberta Freeman and Horace Hasper Moorefield Jr.

Mr. Moorefield was an auto mechanic specializing in body and fender repair and was a significant factor in the development of the family business, Fairview Auto Sales & Detailing. He loved repairing damaged cars but his real joy was his family and his beloved dog, Ginger Snap.

Surviving are his wife, Minnie Baldwin Moorefield of Farmville; three daughters, Tina Moore and husband, Glenn of Farmville, Tanya Dingeldein and husband, Jason of Cumberland and Crystal Mullins and husband, Shawn of Dillwyn; two brothers, Kenneth Moorefield of Blackstone and Edward Moorefield of Cumberland; sister, Sandra Rice of Cumberland and ten grandchildren, Jonathan, Joshua and Jordan Moore, Brandon Moorefield, Will Oertel, Kassie and Zack Dingeldein and Sydney, Sadie and Maggie Mullins.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 10, in the Shorter Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Trinity Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
