My name is Russell Chassey. I am 15 years old and live in Worsham, near the Town of Farmville. I go to Prince Edward County High School. I am part of Boy Scout Troop 6516. I would like to state my opinion on the issue of the 2nd amendment.
In my opinion, the 2nd amendment has always been part of our heritage. During the Revolution, men of any age could help fight for our freedom, and all of those men were allowed to carry a gun. After we won, our founding fathers thought that it was our right to have guns so we could form a militia if our country was ever in danger. That's why they decided to write it in the Constitution.
If any other amendment has survived to this day and should still be practiced today, it's the 2nd. It has been with us through our entire history and so many people in our country use and practice it. If the founding fathers said we should have it we should keep it.
I hope you agree with what I have to say.
