FARMVILLE – The Prince Edward County High School boys soccer team defeated Brunswick 4-1 in a Southside District home match on Wednesday afternoon.
The Eagles scored first in the 14th minute on a goal by Bryce Deitrich, who cut in from the right side of the field, dribbled into the penalty box and left-footed the ball into the right corner.
After Brunswick tied the match at one goal apiece, John Copeland forced the second goal by crossing the ball in the penalty box, which was deflected into the goal by a Brunswick player.
Dietrich scored his second goal of the game early in the second half, and Colton Sheehan deposited PE's final goal of the evening into the net from a severe angle to give the Eagles the 4-1 victory.
Prince Edward will travel to Emporia to face Greensville on Monday afternoon.
