Editor, The Herald:
The Farmville Lions Club wishes to express sincere appreciation to the people of Farmville and the surrounding area for their generous support of White Cane Days held earlier in April. In spite of the economy, contributions totaled over $3,400 and 25 pairs of eyeglasses were donated for recycling. These contributions will assist the Club in benefits the blind directly, providing examinations and glasses for the needy, funding sight and hearing research as well as providing nutritional and medical assistance to individuals in Third World countries.
As our local Lion Club strives to serve those who are blind or who need information on protecting or improving their vision, we wish to thank The Farmville Herald, Food Lion, Wal-Mart, and WFLO for their support. It is a blessing to be part of a community that is supportive of the needs of others.
