Howard Lee Carson, 97

CULLEN, April 30 – Howard Lee Carson, 97, of Cullen, passed away Friday, April 26, 2013. He was the husband of Marie M. Carson.

Mr. Carson was a WWII Veteran and served in Quartermaster Corp. He was a big sports fan, Virginia Tech was his home team and his favorite baseball teams were Oakland A's and the St. Louis Cardinals. He was a farmer and milked dairy cows for 40 years. When he retired he spent his time tending a big garden and apple orchard.

He was dedicated to his church and held numerous positions throughout the years.

Mr. Carson was married to the love of his life, Marie, for over 65 years.

He is survived by his wife; three sons, William Howard (Jane), David Lee (Yvonne) and Roger Lewis (Debbie); two sisters, Margie Bowman and Joyce Locke; six grandchildren, Scott Carson, Susan Hamlette, Kathy Robinson, Ryan Carson, Becky Ryan, and Jennifer Carson; and seven great-grandchildren, Wyatt Robinson, Cameron Carson, Kate Robinson, Riley Carson, J.D. Carson, Alex Carson and Tristan Carson. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Cecil Carson, Bob Carson, Mike Carson, and Edd Carson and a grandchild, Matthew Carson.

Mr. Carson was dedicated to his family, friends and was loved by his community. His family would like to give special thanks to his caregivers.

A funeral service was held Monday, April 29 at Madisonville Presbyterian Church with interment in the church cemetery.
