MARCH 19 – Robert Lester Dowdy, 88, of Farmville, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013 in Farmville. He was born March 25, 1924 in Farmville to the late James Archer and Nellie Baldwin Dowdy. He was a retired painter and farmer. Mr. Dowdy loved all animals and the outdoors. He had numerous pets that he cared very much about.

He is survived by his brother, Herman Dowdy of Richmond; sisters, Myrtle Davenport of Richmond, Epsie Patterson of Evington, Bernice Coakley of Ashburn and Joann Lewis of Farmville; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by seven siblings.

A funeral service was held Monday, March 18 in the Chapel of Puckett Funeral Home with interment in Appomattox Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
