Frances Maxey Gray, 74

SCOTTSVILLE, February 14 – Frances Maxey Gray, 74, of Scottsville, died Monday, February 11, 2013 at Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville. She was born on April 8, 1938 in Buckingham County, a daughter of the late Herbert Bryant and Evelyn Bryant Ragland.
Mrs. Gray was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She retired as a Patient Information Assistant from the University of Virginia Hospital after more than 20 years of service.
She is survived by her devoted husband and caregiver of 10 years, Floyd A. Gray of Scottsville; three daughters, Brenda M. Farrish and husband, Mike of Buckingham, Cathy M. Cassada and husband, Brian of Glen Allen, and Betty M. Ingram and husband, Ted of New Canton; son, Tom Maxey and wife, Anne of Salisbury, North Carolina; two stepsons, Frank Gray and wife, Rhonda of Virginia Beach and Tony Gray of Atlanta, Georgia; sister, Alice Y. Baber and husband, Albert of Buckingham; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family; and her beloved cat, “Precious.” In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Friday, February 15, at Thacker Brothers Scottsville Funeral Home with the Reverend Mike Pleasants officiating. Interment will follow in the Scottsville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Thursday, February 14, at the funeral home.
