Longwood University and Appomattox Court House National Historical Park are teaming up again to host the 14th Annual Civil War Seminar on Saturday, Feb. 16.

The seminar, free and open to the public, begins at 9 a.m. in Longwood's Jarman Auditorium. This year's program, “A Year of Decisions,” will focus on events in 1863 and is part of the events surrounding the 150th anniversary of the war. Historians who will speak include National Park Service ranger and Gettysburg resident Troy Harman and author Robert Krick Sr., who has published more than 20 books and earned three national awards for his work.

“Our speakers are well-known in the Civil War community and are very well-respected, top notch,” said Appomattox Court House historian Patrick Schroeder, who organizes the seminar along with Dr. David Coles, associate professor of history at Longwood. “It's all about educating the public about the Civil War.”
