COLONIAL HEIGHTS, January 8 – Ercell Roach Bowen, 90, of Colonial Heights, formerly of Rice, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2013 in Petersburg. She was born July 22, 1922 in Charlotte County to the late Harry E. and Maggie Coleman Roach. She was the widow of Ernest Carrol Bowen to whom she was married for 57 years.

She is survived by her children, Linda Hornsby (George) of Colonial Heights, Carrol E. Bowen (Peggy) of Chester and Betty Hostetter (Everett Jeter) of Rice; grandchildren, Michael and Keith Hornsby, Jerry Hostetter, Lynnette Wright, Tim Bowen and Charles Bowen; 12 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Martin Roach and numerous half brothers and sisters.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 9, at 1:30 p.m. at the Chapel of Shorter Funeral Home with interment at Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery in Rice.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 8, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
