Vows Exchanged

Dr. James Ray Stephens and Courtney Kernodle Stephens are pleased to announce their marriage on July 27. They were married in an outdoor ceremony at Celebrations at the Reservoir in Moseley.

The Reverend Tony Brooks officiated.

Summer Stephens and Sara Stephens, daughters of the groom, were the bride's attendants.

Gunnar Stephens and Jacob Stephens, sons of the groom, and Maxwell Tharpe, son of the bride, were groomsmen.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald J. Spates and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lee Kernodle, of Farmville. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. Warren Kernodle, of Hampden-Sydney, and Joel W. Simmons and the late Mary Lowry Simmons, of Mt. Airy, NC. Dr. Stephens is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Luther Stephens, of Maryville, TN, and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Samples, of Cleveland, TN.

The bride is a 1993 graduate of Prince Edward Academy and is employed by Virginia Urology. She is currently pursuing and associate's degree at John Tyler Community College.

The groom graduated from Longwood University and the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry in 2011 and is in private practice in Farmville.

The couple resides in Midlothian.
