I hope each of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We all have so much to be thankful for and I hope each took time to count your blessings.
Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church dedicated the boxes for Samaritans Purse during the children's service on Sunday. Shirley Robertson was the coordinator for the project with Judy Bolt assisting.
Brianna Smith spent Friday night with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith. She accompanied her grandfather to a craft show in South Hill on Saturday. Christina Smith spent Saturday night with her grandparents and went to the craft show with her grandfather on Sunday.
Mrs. Norma Hertzler and Mrs. Pat Smith met for breakfast at the home of Mrs. Rosie Lapp on Saturday.
Mrs. Pat Smith drove to Unionville on Saturday afternoon to visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Keaveny. She returned home Monday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith traveled to Fredericksburg on Thursday to have Thanksgiving dinner at the home of Mr. Smith's mother, Mrs. Dolores Smith.
Mrs. Betty Meadows along with Mrs. Shirley Moore joined eight others for a fun trip to Williamsburg Pottery for fellowship and shopping in Williamsburg last Saturday.
Mrs. Flora Bolt and granddaughter Stacy attended the Community Thanksgiving Service held at Concord Baptist Church last Sunday night. Rev. Frank Lacy of Riverside Church brought the message. Following the service delicious refreshments were served. New Store Presbyterian, Smyrna United Methodist and Concord Baptist hold this service each year with the service rotating between the three churches.
Hilda Allen, Lois Johnson and Elfrieda Kerns attended the Christmas Show in South Hill on Sunday. They enjoyed shopping and seeing all the crafts.
Mr. and Mrs. Don Meadows enjoyed a day in Richmond on Monday shopping and visiting their daughter, Julie Shotwell and her family.
Mr. and Mrs. Kyle Bolt are welcoming a baby boy into their family November 21.
The United Daughters of the Confederacy “Sisters, Flora Bolt and Kathryn Powell attended the High Bridge Camp No. 1581 Sons of the Confederacy Veterans meeting on November 15 at Charley's. Flora was excited as she won a door prize. Mrs. Lynne Pridgen attended with her husband, Gary. Gary is one of the “Sons”.
Mrs. Flora Bolt visited the ladies, Mrs. Page Johnson, Mrs. Dot Shumaker, Mrs. Ruth Southall and Mrs. Margaret Banko at Brookview on Tuesday.
Mrs. Flora Bolt, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Bolt, Stacy Bolt and Chace Davis enjoyed the “Pulled Pork” dinner at the Prospect Fire House on November 17. Stacy and Flora were very happy as they left with each winning a door prize; joining them were Mr. and Mrs. Gene Southall, Garland Woodson and Ann Parker.
The Prospect Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary thanks you for your support at their fund raiser this fast Saturday night. The crowd enjoyed a very good meal and seven people went home with a prize.
Neighbors, family and friends are praying for a speedy recovery for those that are sick at this time; Roger Scruggs, Ray George, Shirley Fulcher and Wanda Whitus.
Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle invites everyone to Sunday School at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m. Ms. Rachel Jenkins a student at Union Seminary will be in the pulpit this Sunday.
The membership of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church at Prospect invites you to come and worship with them every Sunday; Sunday School is at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m. The Rev. Otis Worley will bring the message on Sunday.
Calvary Chapel-Farmville invites you to worship with them on Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. They invite you to join them each week on Wednesday evening for Bible Study for all age groups at 7 p.m. Calvary Chapel-Farmville is located at 45 Simpson Road in Prospect, two miles west of Dowdy's Corner just off of US 460.
