November 1 – Happy Birthday wishes are sent out to Dan (Shot) LeSueur, of Dillwyn, celebrating on Sunday, November 4; Larry Davidson, of Rock, West Virginia (formerly of Cumberland) celebrating on Tuesday, November 6, and Betty Waycaster, of Dillwyn, and Eric Cooke, of Cartersville, celebrating on Thursday, November 8.

A big hello goes out this week to our good friend Jane Cooke of Brookneal.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those who are sick and shut-in.

Remember: Eastern Standard Time ends and Daylight Saving Time begins on Sunday, November 4, at 2 a.m. Remember to set your clocks back one hour (fall back) before going to bed Saturday night.

Cedar Baptist Church, located just off of U.S. Route 15 North of Dillwyn on State Route 650 (Trents Mill Rd.) hosts a Men's Promise Keepers Prayer Breakfast Sunday mornings (excluding fifth Sundays) from 8:30-9:30 a.m.

Arvonia Christian Fellowship Church, located off U.S. 15 North of Dillwyn in Arvonia on State Route 672, will host a Blue-grass Gospel Sing on Sunday, November 4 at 1 p.m. featuring The Sandy River Bluegrass Gospel Band from Amelia. A love offering will be received. Following this will be a buffet lunch in the church fellowship hall. All are cordially invited to attend.

Brown Chapel United Methodist Church, located off of U.S. Route 15 North of Dillwyn on State Route 617 (Gravel Hill Rd.) in Dillwyn, will host a Benefit Auction Sale on Saturday, November 3 beginning at 10 a.m. with household items, tools, baked goods, and much more to be auctioned off. Also, lunch will be available for purchase including hot dogs, chips and drinks.

Bill Talbert, of Francisco Auction Company will donate his time as auctioneer. Those who would like to donate items for the auction may contact 434-983-2269 to arrange for items to be dropped off or to have them picked up.

All proceeds resulting from this event will go toward cost of a church sign.

Arvonia Christian Fellowship Church Thrift Store, located off of U.S. Route 15 North of Dillwyn on Circle Drive in Arvo-nia, is open Monday through Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Thursday through Saturday 10 a.m. til 4 p.m. All proceeds from the thrift store are used to help individuals and families in their hour of need. For further information, may contact the thrift store during working hours at 434-581-2474. They do accept donated items by simply calling the store.

The 2012 Byrd Family Reunion was held on Saturday, October 20, in Fries. A nice crowd attended and enjoyed the festivi-ties. Attending locally were Elizabeth Stone of Dillwyn and James and Virginia Boyles of Cumberland. There were some topo-graphical errors in last week's Trent's Mill News. The Hurd Reunion should have been printed as The Byrd Reunion, Elizabeth Stoney should be Elizabeth Stone.

The Buckingham County Christian Fellowship Association will hold their Annual Thanksgiving Banquet on Saturday, No-vember 10 at 1 p.m. at the VFW Hall, located on U.S. Route 60 in Buckingham. All members are cordially invited to attend and bring a vegetable, salad, bread or dessert item. Note: meats and beverages will be provided by the association. Following this there will be door prizes presented and special music by seventeen-year-old Holly Cook of Midlothian.
